The Santee Cooper Lakes region and Clarendon County are filled year round with in a variety of things to do. Cypress After Five in Manning is a series of musical concerts featuring a variety of artists. A full gourmet meal and open bar accompany each concert. The Taste of Clarendon is an annual event showcasing foods from many excellent cooks in the County. The Striped Bass Festival is a week long extravaganza in Manning, with beauty pageants, fishing tournaments, and sporting events, culminating in a day-long party with parades, rides, food and crafts. The County's Relay For Life is another major event that draws support from the entire community. The Jr. Chamber of Commerce sponsors the annual Oyster Roast that draws oyster fans from far and wide. Clarendon County has many civic and community organizations including: Chamber Of Commerce, Rotary, Civitans, Pilot Club, Womans Club, American Legion, Knights Of Columbus, Free Masons, Lions Club, Historic Societies and many others. Churches, area organizations and civic groups have fund raising events, golf tournaments, fishing tournaments and festivals filled with fabulous food. Both the Clarendon Hospital Foundation, and the Manning Downtown Revitalization Committee are very active. Some organizations like the Library and the Santee National Wildlife Refuge have Friends Programs. Manning and the nearby towns of Turbeville and Summerton hold annual Christmas events, most in cooperation with the area’s many garden clubs. So whether you want to work with an organization or just enjoy their events, there is always something fun and worthwhile to do here in the Santee Cooper Lakes region of South Carolina |
